got back from my 1 week in advance reunion dinner with my aunt's family and my grandma. unlike other years, this year they decided to eat out and 1 week in advance as well. anyway we went to Intercontinental Singapore's Chinese Restaurant for our dinner.
The food was absolutely superb! Suckling pig, Peking Duck, Sharks Fin soup, Scallops+Prawn+broccoli, Stir fried noodles with duck meat, "Xue ge" (Red dates , longan, lian zi and Hashima) and some fried pastries for desserts. Heavenly. Price wise, obviously - not so friendly for the wallet. :X but hey, you get what you pay for. furthermore it's a one year once kinda thing. Really good stuff!!! :P The nicest dish would have to be the sharks fin. Normally the sharks fin soup that i expect is usually those clear broth with abit of starch de. but this one was milky, rich broth. At first i thought how come they served dessert as 2nd dish 'cause it looked so much like almond paste (yes, i nearly freaked out. Almond paste leh! wah lao, EWw. :X ) but then when i scooped one spoon of it....WoW. Damn nice! T_T the suckling pig was tasty and most importantly, CRISPY. oh man @_@ The peking duck was also damn nice la! i like the sauce~ Woo~ the rest of the dishes weren't too oily or too salty - just nice. everyone enjoyed the dinner =) we finished at about 7plus almost 8. after that i accompanied mom to walk at bugis abit then came home le.
earlier this morning, i woke up at 10.20am (i was supposed to meet love at the bus stop near church at 11.15am.) and got hit by a bolt of depression. i dunno what happened man. 2 consecutive nightmares before and just basically felt like crap when i pulled myself outta bed. there was this immense dreadful feeling that swept me. i literally dragged my feet to the bathroom, unwillingly got ready and left the house at 11am.
when i reached the beginning of the overhead bridge, i saw the bus was already at the junction and was going to reach the bus stop real soon. "crap", i thought. feel so dreadful liao still so bloody sway as to miss the bus when i'm running terribly late. then at the back of my mind, i told myself, it'll probably take a miracle for me to be able to catch the bus. so i walked up the overhead bridge and kinda sprinted my way down then i walked to the bus stop. O_O strangely, i got to the bus stop before the bus did. wow. meh, in the end, i was still late. although, was earlier than last week :X but damn, i still felt really bad. 'cause i'm always late for service @_@ end up i always make love late for service as well. :\
today's message was quite...how do i put it. dry, perhaps? 'cause it was mission sunday, where they talked about how they can help the poor in other countries. interestingly, (maybe i was naive abt this before i guess.) i found out that much of the world isn't christian. i always used to think ppl in the states are mostly, if not all christians. hmm.
anyway, after service, despite love's bad episode of sinus, we still went out and had lunch together =) *thanks love!* without much clue to exactly where we wanted to have our lunch, we just hopped on bus 10. we ended up alighting at some random bus stop near the CBD area. walked past a small park which seemed really sad (cos some of the plants were really wilting already -.-") and out of place amidst all the tall buildings. continued walking aimlessly and exploring the area. we noticed that there were shorter and dilapidated buildings which looked quiet and abandoned amongst the tall, nice and modern looking buildings. there was one really old building where many ah peks were just basically sitting around there, waiting for time to pass. marginalised landscape perhaps? Kinda interesting 'cause the old and new are like right next to each other.
Anyway, both of us just wandered and ended up at Amoy street food centre. WooHoo! My favourite Lor Mee stall is there!!! :D I've been eating from the lor mee stall ever since i was a kid, i think since primary school or even before that. And it still tastes exactly the same as i remembered. Really love the taste of it, not to mention it brings back fond memories. Our lunch was lor mee, oyster pancake, pork roll (wu xiang) and carrot cake! the ginger tea there is really nice too, though i aint a fan of ginger tea. after lunch, we took 196 back home. long but fruitful day. =)
