i was the earliest to reach stats lect today, surprisingly. so i booked 4 other seats. the very "extra" guy came in soon after. he looked at me, i looked back and he proceeeded to sit 1 row infront of me. LOL. i guess he got traumatised by the "incident" in the previous lecture before term break. lesson learnt? NEVER, and i mean NEVER sit in between 5 girls that you totally don't know.
went to technoedge for lunch today. first time there. seats were really spacious, but the queuing area simply sux. super cramped. the grilled chicken set that me and py had was not bad. oh, for a change, we stepped into 男人国 - ENGINE! haha~ the whole canteen was full of guys and more guys. geez. really very different from arts and science canteen.
went to the lib to check out some socio books. well, they're interesting to read and know about. but to write a term paper. gawd. just keel me man. anyway, some interesting points to note.
Homogamy refers to the tendency of persons to marry others who are similiar to themselves, in some way or another. Although we often say love is blind, there is really nothing 'blind' about mate selection. It all boils down to homogamy. 2 people with same/similar education level get married = homogamy. 2 people with similar income date each other = homogamy again!
Dating. Social Exchange theory. "Give and Take" According to this theory, the basis of most relationships is where partners believe the relationship will provide them with the best possible "deal" - high rewards, low cost. (Sounds super UNromantic right? Haha, dont blame me. Blame the sociologists! :X but if u think abt it, it's true. -_-x) Equity Theory. 1) The greater the perceived equity, the happier the relationship. 2) When people find themselves in an INequitable relationship, they will become distressed. The greater the inequity, the greater the distress. 3) People in an inequitable relationship will try to eliminate the distress by restoring equity.
WHOA. I better stop it with the sociology. haha~ Really makes me think alot deeper abt human relations, from a "detached" pov. Funny thing, sociology is. You always end up with more questions than answers after reading/discussing about it.
